Eye Doctor Visit

I was absent last night.

My eyes are getting worst, not that I'm having visual issues but it's becoming more and more itchy. When it is itchy, my eyes would turn red and I can't help but scratch it off. Sooner or later, it'll be swollen and knowing my small eyes.. I would then have limited visibility. LOL, mukhang bagong gising na intsik or zombie looking.

So I decided to go to an ophthalmologist today. Doctor said it's a sign of allergy. After the drops were given I went home.

I hate being sick. I hope to be back to work tonight.

a Gift from my Class

Well, I'm honestly a little surprised. I thought the class and I didn't have chemistry at all..
For one, they tend to not listen to me and would rather sleep, talk to someone else or ask the US support about the questions they have while I'm discussing.

But I was caught off guard when they handed me their gift.. ah, jacket! I love it. Although I'm thinking it was probably on.. nevermind. It was off white already hahaha. But hey, they thought about me.. they shell out money and they went out of their way to get their damn trainer something.. isn't that thoughtful enough?

I guess YES.

So here's a yell for them! THANK Y'all.

Stranded!!

.. maulang pag blo blog mga friends!

Let me share you my weekend I'll probably always remember.

Saturday
My Saturday was the usual.. tried very hard to kill time.
I visited the dental clinic and I was able to finally talk to the TMJ Specialist. My appliance is coming in a week's time for the therapy.

Sunday
Training Department together with the rest of the support group met at Eastwood Bowling Center to have fun and conduct bowling try outs. I'm no Ms. Sports but I still went and played because I don't want to join the Cheerleading Competition.. please! LOL So I guess it wouldn't hurt to be laugh at and hit the 'kanals' every time. wahehehehe.
I had a great time... ehem, libre eh. All the while, it was raining hard outside. I don't know how much rain there was so I had no idea what awaits us.

Almost 8PM, I was with dette and her daughter; we decided to take a cab going home. The cab had a hard time getting us out of Broadway area.. seems like water is beginning to rise in low areas/ streets. But a couple of U-turns, rights and lefts... we finally took the Sta. Mesa route and turned right I guess somewhere to take Espana.
And lo and behold, the taxi couldn't get through any further... we're trapped. Wherever we look, it seems like we're not going anywhere. The street before us was flooded, a lot of people were stranded looking for ways to get out of the major road. We decided to get off the cab because it was pointless to find another route, we're gonna have to take a flooded area one way or another. But we were persistent. We saw... there were still jeepneys, buses and fx so we rode a jeep thinking that it will survive and pass the flood...

In the middle of the waist deep flood, the engine of the jeep stopped. People around were yelling and clapping that we should take a dip in the water and walk instead (ugh!). We waited, calculated our terms and plans as to what to do next. Good thing Kristel has a friend nearby.. less than a hundred steps from where we're at that we can probably go to. In order for us to get there, either we walk, swim or ride on top of a regular sidecar. We opted for the latter. For a mere 50 pesos, the three of us were politely ushered by the owner of the pedicab who's entire body.. ehem, nearly up to the boobs... was submerged in water. Yep, she was she. We skillfully and successfully able to sit on top of the sidecar (bubong in short)- how? I'll leave that to your imagination. FYI - I didn't see the seat of the side car, that's how deep the water was.

I was a little disappointed with my pics, it didn't capture much of the details then. Anyhow, you may see the rest of the bowling and baha pics in dette's multiply - http://akianddet.multiply.com

To cut the story short, we spent the night in someone else's house. I went home 5AM the next morning. It was a little embarrassing considering I don't know the family. But they were very accommodating.. so mycah and mom.. Thank you very much for letting us in!

I guess this happens.. only in the Philippines!!

My Dental Plan

God knows how long I've waited for this day.

Finally, I got the right dentist (perhaps) who can cater to my needs..

Yesterday mama and I went to the dentist to have our teeth checked. The dentist refused to treat any of my tooth problem first as I do have TMJ Deficiency.

So after series of Q&A, here's the plan:

  • They need a TMJ x-ray first
  • The X-ray would determine what appliance I need
  • The appliance will take 6 months to fix my TMJD
  • Then after, I can get my treatments done- fillings, etc.
  • Then orthodontics/braces follow after
The entire process sum up to a 6 digit figure excluding my mom's treatment.

.. Hopefully, beautiful and painless smile is a year away.

I Want Boracay

.. I dunno, probably because I'm tired of the metro? My friends have been all over the place.. pooooooooor me.. can't even have vaca... I'm tired of being busy and serious with work. Time to play *wink wink* and socialize :).. Remyxx - I'll wait for Palawan, or wherever it is.. and it has to be for real, or else (wehehehe)

I want white sand, a cozy and peaceful place, no work, no worries, no distractions -- pure travel, swimming and eating.. and oh.. spa, spa spa.. phuleeeeeeeease

I've been eyeing for this place.. can you guess where this is? But can't just yet.. I have class again. Will wait till October perhaps? But I'm ready now............ hay.

Hopefully, by then.. book and go!

.. One way or another, I have to get here! LOL

The Lesnar Show

.. by Dan Wetzel on Yahoo Sports

LAS VEGAS – So Brock Lesnar, in the parlance of pro wrestling, had gone straight heel.

After bludgeoning Frank Mir to retain the Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight championship at the hyped UFC 100, the former pro wrestling star decided to put on a real show.

Lesnar ran around the octagon flipping off the Mandalay Bay Events Center crowd with both middle fingers. He shouted at Mir as the challenger sat on a stool trying to regain his equilibrium. Mir stood up and they went sort of nose-to-broken nose before Lesnar cackled with laughter.

In the post-fight interview, Lesnar encouraged the booing fans to “keep going” before continuing to taunt Mir.

No one and nothing was spared. Lesnar even turned his attention to the UFC itself, which paid him an estimated $3 million for the fight, pointing at the giant Bud Light advertisement in the middle of the octagon.

“I’m drinking a cooler full of Coors Light, Coors Light because Bud Light won’t pay me anything.”

Anything for the children at home, big guy?

“Hell, I might even get on top of my wife tonight.”

With his clown-show antics, Brock Lesnar just became the greatest villain in modern fighting. From refusing to tap gloves prefight in a sportsmanlike ritual to this over-the-top rant that came right out of the silly wrestling circus.

“Straight WWE,” said a stunned Dana White, the president of the UFC. “Brock went so far over the top tonight I can’t even describe it. I don’t think in the history of the UFC we’ve ever done anything like that.”

Postfight, White pushed his way into Lesnar’s crowded locker room and took the big guy into the bathroom for a private “discussion.” Lesnar himself described it as “a whip-the-dog session.”

“With women in here you don’t want to know what I said,” White said. It worked, Brock showed up at the press conference smiling, supposedly contrite and even drinking a Bud Light.

“First and foremost I want to apologize,” Lesnar said. “I acted very unprofessionally after the fight. I screwed up and I apologize. I apologize to Bud Light. I’m not biased, I drink any beer.”

It was mostly a chance for laugh lines, but it was still an apology. Lesnar said the pent-up energy of avenging a loss to Mir caused him to go crazy. “I’m a sore loser,” he said. “I don’t like to get beat. I believe I gave that fight to him. So there was a lot of emotion in this fight for me.

“Man, I was so jacked up. I’m used to selling pay-per-view tickets. I come from a business that is purely the entertainment business.”

And so that was the excuse. Lesnar didn’t flip, he just flipped the switch back into Vince McMahon’s operation where nothing is too over the top. The UFC, however, is real and it has tried to position itself not as a blood sport but one based on sportsmanship and mutual respect.

Lesnar did the UFC no favors in that regard. And neither did veteran Dan Henderson, who dropped a vicious forearm smash on an already knocked out and prone Michael Bisping on the undercard. Henderson then admitted he did it on purpose to avenge prefight trash talk. The UFC even went on to award him its $100,000 “knockout of the night” bonus. White also gave Henderson a talking to, but Henderson still said it “felt good.”

The damage done to the UFC’s mainstream momentum remains to be seen. While some will be repulsed, others will be drawn in. It’s cage fighting, after all. Things get out of hand.

That this occurred on the promotion’s biggest night, when the numerical significance of the card was expected to bring in a large first-time audience, wasn’t appreciated by the UFC. The night was electric and highly entertaining. And while it is likely to most offend people who weren’t disposed to giving mixed martial arts a chance in the first place, White was aghast at Lesnar’s act. This isn’t what he built. This isn’t what he wanted.

“What he’s doing out there tonight is not real,” White said. “You don’t have to act like something you’re not. This isn’t the WWE. I don’t ask these guys to act crazy so we get more pay per views. That’s not the business I’m in.”

In the meantime, the cementing of Lesnar’s reputation as the promotion’s most hated man is done.

“Brock hasn’t made himself very loveable,” White said. “They hate Brock.” For the UFC, a classic villain is business gold. He’s the ultimate leading man for the organization. Some loathe him. Some love him. No one can ignore him. For those seeking his comeuppance however, there isn’t a WWE storyline that can be written to stop him.

Lost in the antics was Lesnar’s performance, a brilliant effort that showed both his growth as a mixed martial artist and the immense potential. The question becomes, who the heck can tame this mountain of a man from the Minnesota woods?

Shane Carwin? Cain Velasquez? Mir in a final chapter of a trilogy of fights? No doubt they’ll get a chance, and no doubt they stand a chance.

The greatest beneficiary of each Lesnar snarl, however, lives in Stary Oskol, Russia, a man named Fedor Emelianenko who is considered the No. 1 heavyweight (if not pound-for-pound fighter) in the world. If anyone has the knockout power to stop the 6-3, 265-pound Lesnar, it’s Emelianenko.

Fedor doesn’t fight in the UFC though. He’s with its rival promotion, Affliction. He’ll fight Aug. 1 in Anaheim, Calif., in what is the last match of his contract. Affliction is hoping to re-sign him until 2012, but the UFC will come hard after him. More now then ever. And that means money, big money.

“Eventually Fedor is going to be here,” White said. “I want Fedor. We’ll end up getting that deal done and then we’ll do Brock vs. Fedor and we’ll do a huge fight.”

Time will tell, but the pressure to sign the elusive Russian has been ratcheted up. A villain was born and there isn’t an obvious superhero in sight. The UFC brought Brock Lesnar over from the WWE for just this kind of a sensation. And the big man has delivered – the good, the bad and the embarrassing.

Only Dana White has no scriptwriters that can contain him.

Week of July 6 - 11

.. was still a little sick. but ever since I took a day off from work.. my fever went away and I've been feeling a lot better. I still have stubborn cough though. Still, I am thankful it's not Influenza A(H1N1).

We actually lost a friend. At such a young age, Lord decided to finally take her back. I'm not sure how young she is.. She's a niece to our distant cousins.. may she rests in peace.

Next.. I know Remyxx is supposed to have another catch up meeting to help Lucky prep on her upcoming wedding but I think I missed it this week.. and will miss it on the next. I'm booked, sorry guys. Will catch up on the next ones. And nga pala.. I contacted the singers for the reception - their talent fee is 8K daw. Please let me know.

I don't know what else to share..
... work tonight. finally, my class is off to production. wohooooooo

Jul 2, 2009

Not Influenza A (H1N1)

I was a little pissed off yesterday as almost everyone is telling me I have H1N1, and I'm telling them I don't have sore throat.. they would answer magkakaron ka. Huh? How did you know, are you my creator? Even doctors and nurses don't believe I have.

How cruel can you people get?

I went to Makati Med Emergency after work to have myself checked. They ruled out H1N1 virus although my fever kicked up to 38.2. I was able to finish my class but I was just sitting the entire shift. I almost could not do it. My eyes were swollen (I don't know what reason), there were times that I can't bear the cold - to think I was wearing a thick sweater.

Turned out my fever was caused by a Urinary Tract Infection which I had when I was in high school, and that unfortunately recurred.

I didn't make it to work last night because I know I badly needed a rest. I'm going to work tonight.

I just hate it when I am trying to show my best all the time but the worst always comes out. I would always remember how ugly I am when I'm sick. ugh.

Remyxx Dinner - June 09

.. after 2 years (I think) of not seeing each other as a group, Remyxx spent a night again -- this time to catch up and finally listen to Lucky's formal announcement.

Well it started out with some serious walking... from greenbelt, to glorietta 5, and back to greenbelt 5. We were pro's in injecting serious chats in between entering doors, having our bags checked, crossing department aisles, and crossing the street while pedestrian light was still red! whew.

underground walkway to glorietta 5. gotta find a way.

Lucky and Mheann both announced they're getting married few weeks back. Lucky will get married January of next year and Mheann on March 2011. This is just the perfect timing to finally get together.

Though no one from us ever planned a wedding before, seems like Rina and I knew exactly what to write down. In less than 5 months - everything should be set, including losing weight! :p

Congratulations to Lucky and Robert - hoping for fruitful and blessed years together!

Michael Jackson is dead

from yahoo

LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted child star who rose to become the "King of Pop" and the biggest celebrity in the world only to fall from his throne in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday. He was 50. Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Ed Winter, the assistant chief coroner for Los Angeles County, confirmed his office had been notified of the death and would handle the investigation.

The circumstances of Jackson's death were not immediately clear. Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m., Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to the hospital, Ruda told the newspaper.

Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

His 1982 album "Thriller" — which included the blockbuster hits "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" — is the best-selling album of all time, with an estimated 50 million copies sold worldwide.

The public first knew him in the late 1960s, when as a boy he was the precocious, spinning lead singer of the Jackson 5, the music group he formed with his four older brothers. Among their No. 1 hits were "I Want You Back," "ABC," and "I'll Be There."

He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves and his high-pitched voice punctuated with squeals and titters. His single sequined glove, tight, military-style jacket and aviator sunglasses were trademarks second only to his ever-changing, surgically altered appearance.

"For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words," said Quincy Jones, who produced "Thriller." "He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I've lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him."

Jackson ranked alongside Elvis Presley and the Beatles as the biggest pop sensations of all time. He united two of music's biggest names when he was briefly married to Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie, and Jackson's death immediately evoked that of Presley himself, who died at age 42 in 1977.

As years went by, Jackson became an increasingly freakish figure — a middle-aged man-child weirdly out of touch with grown-up life. His skin became lighter, his nose narrower, and he spoke in a breathy, girlish voice. He surrounded himself with children at his Neverland ranch, often wore a germ mask while traveling and kept a pet chimpanzee named Bubbles as one of his closest companions.

"It seemed to me that his internal essence was at war with the norms of the world. It's as if he was trying to defy gravity," said Michael Levine, a Hollywood publicist who represented Jackson in the early 1990s. He called Jackson a "disciple of P.T. Barnum" and said the star appeared fragile at the time but was "much more cunning and shrewd about the industry than anyone knew."

Jackson caused a furor in 2002 when he playfully dangled his infant son, Prince Michael II, over a hotel balcony in Berlin while a throng of fans watched from below.

In 2005, he was cleared of charges he molested a 13-year-old cancer survivor at Neverland in 2003. He had been accused of plying the boy with alcohol and groping him, and of engaging in strange and inappropriate behavior with other children.

The case followed years of rumors about Jackson and young boys. In a TV documentary, he had acknowledged sharing his bed with children, a practice he described as sweet and not at all sexual.

Despite the acquittal, the lurid allegations that came out in court took a fearsome toll on his career and image, and he fell into serious financial trouble.

Jackson was preparing for what was to be his greatest comeback: He was scheduled for an unprecedented 50 shows at a London arena, with the first set for July 13. He was in rehearsals in Los Angeles for the concert, an extravaganza that was to capture the classic Jackson magic: showstopping dance moves, elaborate staging and throbbing dance beats.

Singer Dionne Warwick said: "Michael was a friend and undoubtedly one of the world's greatest entertainers that I fortunately had the pleasure of working with. ... We have lost an icon in our industry."

Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital as word of his death spread. The emergency entrance at the UCLA Medical Center, which is near Jackson's rented home, was roped off with police tape.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Michael Jackson has just died," a woman boarding a Manhattan bus called out, shortly after the news was announced. Immediately many riders reached for their cell phones.

So many people wanted to verify the early reports of Jackson's death that the computers running Google's news section interpreted the fusillade of "Michael Jackson" requests as an automated attack for about half an hour Thursday evening.

In New York's Times Square, a low groan went up in the crowd when a screen flashed that Jackson had died, and people began relaying the news to friends by cell phone.

"No joke. King of Pop is no more. Wow," Michael Harris, 36, of New York City, read from a text message a friend sent to his telephone. "It's like when Kennedy was assassinated. I will always remember being in Times Square when Michael Jackson died."

___

Associated Press Writers Derrik J. Lang in Los Angeles and Virginia Byrne, Nekesa Mumbi Moody and Jocelyn Noveck in New York contributed to this report.

First Week - Check!

Our first week of work again in the office after the trip was not so bad. There were countless 'pasalubong ko?' greetings from almost everyone.. but of course I was prepared with an answer - in a warm but blunt manner (pwede b un?) 'wala e' sabay 'hehe - musta ka naman?'.

Hopefully, with God's help.. everything goes smoothly all throughout the training.

-----------------------------

I missed a lot of movies when I was away. I didn't get to see any because I'd personally rather keep the 10dollars than give it up for a movie. And so there are quite a few that's on my list:

  1. transformers
  2. the proposal
  3. hangover
.. this is merely a note to self.

alright.. first weekend - check!

...prepare for remyxx get-together next week

I Heart Manila

The reason I love BAYO so much is because of their love for simple designs, plus the fact that its owned by a local family... I Heart Manila and Fabulous Pinay are few of their slogans that I love.

.. ok, that was just an introduction, :) I love their shoutout, so let me just borrow that.

I am finally home, from the longest business trip I had (so far!). I won't complain, although it wasn't easy to be on board for about 13 hours, deplaning and boarding back, plus the fact that I had to pull some 40+ pound hand carry, with other loose items around me. I know it's more than the allowed, but I passed the checking and all eh?

I won't bore you with the details of the travel. Ok, let me take that back.

The travel began with a delayed flight from Covington, Kentucky to Detroit airport. We landed in Detroit at 11AM - next flight was 3:30 to Japan. We had lunch at Max and Erma's inside the airport first, after which we waited at the lounge near the gates and played cards. I didn't capture any pics but thanks to Dave and Buster's playing cards.. we were successful in killing time.

"He's not just in to you" (or something like that) aired during our fight from Detroit to Japan so I got to watch something I've not seen yet.. hehe. We got screened for AH1N1 when we got to Nagoya Internatiol Airport - I think nobody was pulled for quarantine, which was good.

After 45 mins of petiks time.. we left Nagoya and headed to Manila.. a 4 hour flight that made me sleep almost the entire time. But of course, I get to wake up occassionally - either because of food, snack or drinks :)

I know... my post doesn't make sense, I need more sleep... have work tonight na. My body is a little sore from pulling and lifting my bags.

Humid Manila.. goodnight muna.

Send Off Dinner

Kris Spier, our Client Operations Manager invited us for a dinner at their place.

Their house was pretty and totally gorgeous. Today is also Mickey's (Team Leader) 30th birthday. We surprised him with a cake and sparklers that we got him off guard. :)

Kris prepared Steak, Grilled Chicken, mixed vegetables and salad. We had cake as dessert. I forgot the name of her dog, but that boxer was very playful!

-----------------------------

Our flight to Manila is tomorrow at 11AM. All my bags are packed already (it's about time!) and I absolutely think my bags are more than the allowed weight. I'll just close my eyes for some charges.. I just want to get this done and over with.

I pray that everything goes smoothly tomorrow, from sealing our respective boxes, checking in, going through checkpoints to boarding the main aircraft that will fly us to Japan. By the way our route is Covington - Detroit, Detroit to Japan, Japan to Manila.

May the Lord guide and bless our trip, the pilots and crew and everyone else in the plane.

.. time to get the business rolling..

Benihana

my PC clock shows 11:27 PM.. on a Thursday evening and I'm still wide awake. Uhmm, not exactly happily awake.. more of like 'work mode' still awake.

this afternoon during lunch, we tried something different - Benihana that is at 6th East St.
The restaurant uses Teppanyaki style - a Japanese method of cooking that uses iron griddle or teppan to cook food. We all had LUNCH BOXES - choice of any 2 or 3 combination - chicken, shrimp, scallop, beef julienne, calamari, mushrooms, i forgot the rest.

Hmm, I didn't find the food so different - it even tasted ordinary to me.. I guess what made it special is how it was prepared....

.. indeed :)

TGIF in a little while! :D

Roller Coaster Week!

I declare this week as the craziest as of yet.

It seems like training preparation is just endless. We've been creating, revising, retyping modules over and over and over.. and it feels like forever! Add the fact that we're going home this weeken..so there's a lot of things that I've been thinking one on top of the other.

I've been re-doing my luggage for the nth time already... I had to change my box, re-tape them back, buy carry-on luggage, pack, pack and more packing, and practically waste money.

Oh, not to forget the buy thing... hehe, got my first CK bag today - gosh! so happy, LOL.. mababaw lang ako e,. Add my new Nike, LC and XOXO to that.. nyahahaha.

Oh well, I have to find time to vent and smile in this roller coaster week...

hold on tight! :)

EDIT:
we had lunch today at Longhorn Steak restaurant. I'll surely miss a free steak so I made sure to try it out.. possibly for the last time.

Here's my medium-well Ribeye Steak with a side of fresh vegetable and Lobster Bisque.

Today, we had dinner with Jackie - the Director of the other service that we support.

Trip to the Cincinnati Museum

Tech Team is very fortunate again to be given free tickets to go to the museum.. and again, we're very thankful to CFO - Gary, in making this happen. :)

The museum was broken into 3 categories - Cincinnati History Museum, Dinosaurs Unearthed, and Museum of Natural History and Science. Actually, there's one more museum - I think it's for kids.

Fire Alarm @ Extended Stay America

believe me, I wasn't really happy then. I guess when I'm excited and my heart's pumping fast, I can't help but smile

---------------------------------------------------------

Past 8PM earlier tonight
I was alone and busy in my room, sitting on my bed while working on 2 laptops.. watching House.

Suddenly I heard a very loud screeching-like noise. It was continuous, irritating and really loud.

Hotels nowadays are equipped with so much sensors - one time that my friend was frying a fish in her small kitchen.. she made her smoke alarm ring.. It didn't really cause panic, the receptionist just called us at once and told us to close the door... I am positive the sound I heard was totally different. I was even looking at my own kitchen just to check if I caused it, but hell no.

Not knowing what to do.. I opened my door and saw that the Fire Alarms at the hallway are already blinking, and the sound is everywhere not only in my room.. I quickly went inside and called the receptionist to ask what's wrong (I don't know what I was thinking, it doesn't seem like I understand the urgency - can you believe that I actually found time to call the receptionist?!?) Anyway, receptionist said he's not sure what's happening and suggested I just go down. Quickly.. I packed both laptops and ran down the stairs shaking, my heart beating fast.

My team mates who were downstairs already were very calm. They laughed when they saw me and asked my why I have a bag.. I simply said "I packed what I can and ran at once" (LOL, in reality, I was the only one left upstairs!)

Few seconds... maybe 10, firetrucks came..

It was a false alarm. They didn't see any fire or anything like it. I went back to my room, laughing and shaking still.

... whew, what a drill!
