Bowling, 34th, and a whole lot more

Yesterday, Saturday, Marvin and I spent the whole day together. It'll be our 34th month this coming Monday so we decided to chill out together. With both of us having no sleep at all, we headed to greenhills to kill time and tire ourselves out.

Morning at around 9AM we arrived at greenhills. We stayed in 7-11 RCBC prior.
Since the mall opens at 10, we decided to go around the vicinity and stroll a bit kahit wala pang open na store. We stopped by chowking to munch some merienda. Talking lang all this time. I told him too that GXS will have its sportsfest soon and that only 4 games will be held, basketball, badminton, bowling and volleyball. I thought medyo na-OP ung volleyball sa pagiging V - LOL - bolleyball. I was excited to know that bowling is part of the sportsfest! If you can remember, the accenture training team last time had a little get together and sort of team building - we played bowling. I super enjoyed it! I had fun throwing the ball, getting it to the gutter and striking consecutively. hehe. So when I saw the invitation for registration to join the sportsfest, I was really ecstatic to join. I just want to join, not exactly to compete and all that - i love playing it so I actually gave it a thought and told it to Marvin. He on the other hand gave me his full support and told me that I shouldn't think that it will be a competition, rather, for the sake of playing and having fun - I should join daw. I became even more thrilled!

10AM
When the mall opens, we went to a lot of stores. ay grabe, with my lappy on his and my shoulders (salitan kami sa pagbuhat, hehe) nakakapagod magikot. shoes, bags, cellphones - anything na tinda sa greenhills naikot na namen. And with my boyfriend being a super FAN of NIKE, we went there. I ended up buying a rubber shoes for SALE, lesser than 2K. I can use this for the upcoming sportsfest. But mind you, I am not a pro player, I don't know the rules, I am not even registered to join yet and more so to play. Nonetheless, I think I can use this shoes - especially in the office. It seems that you can wear what you want in ouf office - though it is supposed to be 'smart casual'. I see a lot of people in jeans everyday and even in their slip ons - me included. :p

Near 12 Noon
We dined and celebrated our upcoming 22nd monthsary at the RACKS. Hmmm, Marvin is a fan of grilled food and steaks... and actually a whole lot more. Since we wanted to try something else (where I've never dined before), we gave RACKS a go. It wasn't as fulfilling when we were in Italiannis. Sorry but I like their food better. But it wasn't so disappointing in RACKS. They just didn't wow me. Anyway, after lunch - we headed to SM Megamall - the closest mall to Greenhills to bowl. I told Marvin that if ever I'm joining, I want to practice first.

SM Megamall is fully occuppied by some pro players - for competetion. SM don't know what time the competition will end so we decided to transfer to MOA. Thank goodness it wasn't traffic at all.

Past 1:00PM
We arrived at MOA. We headed to the bowling center at once so we can play. But its fully packed too. A competition will be held there and is supposed to start at 3PM. We were in waiting list. 5 minutes before 2AM, we were called - hay salamat.

Then we played till before 3. I suck. shit, this is not the 'performance level' I should bring to the sportsfest. Hence, I was so disappointed when our game was over. I always hit the gutter and didn't even touch any ball. I'm dooomed. And playing bowling isn't cheap at all. I was so low after the game (LOL). Haha. I really want to join, kahit hindi na ko manalo. LOL. Pero ok paren sana kung hindi ako lumabas na kahiya hiya di ba. Hehehe. The only reason I'm joining sportsfest is because 1 - hindi ako fan ng sports. This is the only sport na masasalihan ko if ever. 2 - wala pa mashadong nakakakilala saken sa company. So if I suck, konti lang makakaalam - but after the game, haha - marami ng makakaalam. 3 - I want to enjoy my time in the company. Hindi ako TL - so wala akong hawak na tao. Hindi ako manager, so wala akong kausap na TL's and clients most of the time. I am the only trainer in the company so wala akong kausap at kasamang mga co-trainers. So don't blame me for choosing to join ha. I just want to unwind and be happy and have fun. Most of the people around me kasi in the office want to leave na. *sigh*

The World Without Filipinos

Please read.

Imagine a world without Filipinos
Abdullah Al-Maghlooth Al-Watan, almaghlooth@alwatan.com.sa

Muhammad Al-Maghrabi became handicapped and shut down his flower and gifts shop business in Jeddah after his Filipino workers insisted on leaving and returning home. He says: “When they left, I felt as if I had lost my arms. I was so sad that I lost my appetite.”

Al-Maghrabi then flew to Manila to look for two other Filipino workers to replace the ones who had left. Previously, he had tried workers of different nationalities but they did not impress him. “There is no comparison between Filipinos and others,” he says. Whenever I see Filipinos working in the Kingdom, I wonder what our life would be without them.

Saudi Arabia has the largest number of Filipino workers — 1,019,577 — outside the Philippines. In 2006 alone, the Kingdom recruited more than 223,000 workers from the Philippines and their numbers are still increasing. Filipinos not only play an important and effective role in the Kingdom, they also perform different jobs in countries across the world, including working as sailors. They are known for their professionalism and the quality of their work.
Nobody here can think of a life without Filipinos, who make up around 20 percent of the world’s seafarers. There are 1.2 million Filipino sailors.

So if Filipinos decided one day to stop working or go on strike for any reason, who would transport oil, food and heavy equipment across the world? We can only imagine the disaster that would happen.

What makes Filipinos unique is their ability to speak very good English and the technical training they receive in the early stages of their education. There are several specialized training institutes in the Philippines, including those specializing in engineering and road maintenance. This training background makes them highly competent in these vital areas.

When speaking about the Philippines, we should not forget Filipino nurses. They are some 23 percent of the world’s total number of nurses. The Philippines is home to over 190 accredited nursing colleges and institutes, from which some 9,000 nurses graduate each year. Many of them work abroad in countries such as the US, the UK, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Singapore.

Cathy Ann, a 35-year-old Filipino nurse who has been working in the Kingdom for the last five years and before that in Singapore, said she does not feel homesick abroad because “I am surrounded by my compatriots everywhere.” Ann thinks that early training allows Filipinos to excel in nursing and other vocations. She started learning this profession at the age of four as her aunt, a nurse, used to take her to hospital and ask her to watch the work. “She used to kiss me whenever I learned a new thing. At the age of 11, I could do a lot. I began doing things like measuring my grandfather’s blood pressure and giving my mother her insulin injections,” she said.

This type of early education system is lacking in the Kingdom. Many of our children reach the university stage without learning anything except boredom.
The Philippines, which you can barely see on the map, is a very effective country thanks to its people. It has the ability to influence the entire world economy.
We should pay respect to Filipino workers, not only by employing them but also by learning from their valuable experiences.

We should learn and educate our children on how to operate and maintain ships and oil tankers, as well as planning and nursing and how to achieve perfection in our work. This is a must so that we do not become like Muhammad Al-Maghrabi who lost his interest and appetite when Filipino workers left his flower shop.

We have to remember that we are very much dependent on the Filipinos around us. We could die a slow death if they chose to leave us.

____________________________________________
I hope everyone treats us and sees us this way. There are a lot of poor fellow Pinoys and Pinays who suffer in the hands of unhumane people here and abroad.

New Tax Exemption - I Like It!!

MANILA, Philippines – President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Tuesday morning signed into law the measure that will exempt minimum wage earners from paying income tax and increase personal exemption for other employees.

A radio report said President Arroyo signed Republic Act 9504 or the act amending several sections of RA 8424 otherwise known as the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997.
Workers who used to earn the minimum wage of P382 a day will begin taking home as much as P35 a day or around P700 a month, according to Sen. Francis Joseph “Chiz" Escudero, who turned up at the signing to represent the higher chamber of Congress.
Escudero chairs the Senate committee on ways and means.

Also present at the signing were Rep. Exequiel Javier, Escudero’s counterpart at the House of Representatives as well as Senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Manuel "Mar" Roxas III.

Senator Roxas, principal author of the Senate’s version of the measure, earlier said that all holiday, night differentials, hazard and overtime pays will also be tax exempt.

The new law increased to 50,000 all individual exemptions, which previously stood at P20,000 for single workers, P25,000 for a head of the family, and P32,000 for married individuals.

Additional exemptions for up to four qualified dependents were likewise raised from P8,000 to P25,000 each.

This would mean that an employee earning P455 per day or P10,010 per month would have an additional take-home pay of P472.59 per month if unmarried, P678.50 per month if head of the family, and P580.92 per month if married with four children.
Also, an employee earning P683 per day or P15,026 per month would have an additional take-home pay of P545.26 per month if unmarried; P1,307.18 per month as head of the family; and P1,190.52 per month for those married with four children.
However, reports also said that the government is set to lose P14 billion in tax collection with the signing into law of the said tax relief bill.

A television report from GMA’s Flash Report quoted Finance Secretary Margarito Teves as assuring that the government will look for other sources of income to recover this loss.
Teves cited a provision on RA 9504 which imposes an optional standard deduction for professionals, self-employed individuals, and small corporations. These deductions, he added, could generate as much as P15 billion for the government.
For his part, Federation of Philippine Industries president Jess Arranza was quoted by the same radio report as hailing the President for approving the tax exemption measure.
The Senate version of the measure was passed last May 27 while lawmakers at the House approved their version the following day.

The President signed the measure before starting a Cabinet meeting with Food and Energy officials to discuss plans on increasing food production and putting up more infrastructure programs.

Also, the President on Monday morning swore in former military chief Hermogenes Esperon Jr as the newly-appointed Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process; and outgoing Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye as the her new political adviser. - GMANews.TV

There Can Only be One

The NBA Finals are currently on game 3 in favor of the Boston Celtics. Using their homecourt advantage, they lead LA Lakers, winning two straight games. Game 3 was brought to LA where Lakers defeated Celtics scoring 87-81.

Game 4 and 5 will still be hosted in LA. As far as I know - Lakers never lost a game in their homecourt. :)

I'm not so NBA fan but I love it when the Finals is here. For this 2008, I'm cheering for Celtics. :)

Lets see who will dominate the league.

I'm Yours by Jason Mraz

Well, you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but your so hot that i melted
I fell right through the cracks, and i'm tryin to get back
before the cool done run out i'll be givin it my best test
and nothin's gonna stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some

I won't hesitate no more,
no more, it cannot wait i'm yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you'll find love love love
listen to the music at the moment people dance and sing
We're just one big family
It's your god forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved Loved

So, i won't hesitate no more,
no more, it cannot wait i'm sure
there's no need to complicate our time is short
this is our fate, i'm yours

*scat*

I've been spendin' way too long checkin' my tongue in the mirror
and bendin' over backwards just to try to see it clearer
my breath fogged up the glass
and so I drew a new face and laughed
I guess what I'm a sayin'is there ain't no better reason
to rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons
it's what we aim to do
our name is our virtue

I won't hesitate no more, no more
it cannot wait, i'm sure
(there's no need to complicate
our time is short
it cannot wait, i'm yours 2x

no please don't complicate, our time is short
this is our fate, im yours.
no please don't hesitate no more, no more
it cannot wait, the sky is yours!)

well open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
ah, la one big family
it's your god forsaken right to be loved, loved, loved, loved
open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
ah, la happy family
it's our god forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved
listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
ah, la peaceful melodies
it's you god forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved...

Two Thumbs Up for Sex And The City

I can't tell you enough how happy and satisfied I was after watching SATC yesterday. Let me start of on how me and my sister ended up in MOA minus Marvin.

My Friday shift ended yesterday at 6AM of Saturday. After shift, Marvin went to my office to pick me up (no movie plans whatsoever) so we can just go home together. We decided to talk, have a catch up time over breakfast. Since the time was close to 10PM, I decided to check if Kae and I can meet at SM San Lazaro to watch a movie.

Past 11AM, Marvin and I waited for Kae at Starbucks San Lazaro. Prior to that, we went to the movie area to check the play hours of SATC. I was so disappointed to know that SATC is scheduled at 6PM pa. argh! And simple lang, we have few options, lipat ng movie house, choose another date, or go home and wait till 6PM. But I woke up Kae para lang manood ng first showing - thinking na meron timeslot ang ATC during these early hours.

Nonetheless, when Kae showed up, we decided to go to MOA. And it has been a long day for me and Marvin that he decided to go home instead as he couldn't make it to MOA na and watch a movie pa. :)
Minus Marvin, it was 1PM when we reached MOA, and the airtime of SATC is 1:35PM. The next show will be 4PM. Gosh, if we can't make it - we'll be burning ass somewhere - I swear, my head was spinning during this hour that I can't go around the mall - wallk or window shop!
We made it! hehe. Kahit mahaba ung pila sa sinehan, Kae was able to make it. I headed to the restroom to freshen up while she was in line. Same time pagbalik ko - tapos na sya - nakabili na sya ticket - yey. We bought Chef Tony's popcorn. Madalas ko to makita sa MOA pero I didn't know that Chef Tony's is ok pala - although I miss TATERS paren. Natapos kaming bumili ng popcorn mga 1:25. Tumatakbo na kami sa cinema - LOL so we can make it ontime. Di na kami nakabili man lang ng drinks - kaloka, dahil mahaba ung pila. All we really wanted was to watch SATC, and this is our second freakin attempt to watch it (last week - we didn't make it on time and di na kaya ng powers ko - without sleep - to wait for 3 hours for the next showing) - and our sacrifice was sooooooooooooo worth it. :p

The movie was wonderful. Hindi minadali. The scenes were connected all throughout. Basta - I like the movie so much. I keep on replaying the story to myself. May reason kung bakit kain ng kain ng pudding si Charlotte, or why she shit her pants - for me, it was very well done. Unlike the other normal stories na pwede palang i-cut ung scenes na to kasi wala namang koneksyon with the entire story itself. Maraming scenes dun na maiiyak ka or madidisappoint especially pag puso na pinaguusapan. ehem. Parang if you feel and think the same way they do - super makakarelate ka sa story. Kung pinagdadaanan mo ung mga pinagdadaanan din nila sa story and kung pano nila nasolusyunan ung problem - madadala ka talaga.

Not for being sentimental or whatsoever, kahit sino siguro (basta hindi bato ang puso, will be moved by the movie). I don't know how the last season of SATC ended and I have not watched every single series of it, I watch it if I can- but I was able to catch up with how the story of the movie went. Pero kung first timer ka, you would definetly understand the story too. Meron kasi silang explanation during the start of the movie.

Sorry na kung super babaw ko but I think ung acting skills nila is soooooooooo convincing. Nung hindi sinipot si Carrie, nung niyakap siya ni Charlotte after nia palupaluin ng bulaklak si Big - nakakaiyak talaga, I swear.

SATC talks about the mature side of the relationship apart from georgeous fashion, shopping and shoes. It covered settling down and dealing with issues about friendship and BF relationship, of family, of being alone, of work and of loving yourself.

There were lines I liked so much. They might not make sense to you, but I love it how and when it was delivered... these are just part of their entire line.. don't ask me why I can't remember all-
  • Miranda on the phone with Carrie: "I thought having a family will never make me lonely.."
  • Carrie embracing Miranda on New Years Eve: "You're not alone...."
  • Charlotte to the gang: "I am always happy, not all day everyday, but everyday"
  • Charlotte to his husband: "thank you for being you..."
  • Big to Carrie: "This is what you want. I want you, that's what I want"
  • Carrie to Big: "We've had so many different fights that there's none else left for us... it going to be you and me... you and me... "

I couldn't justify SATC with this blog. I might not even making sense here. So I'm not going to hold you for long.

Go ahead and don't miss it. Watch it - if I have another opportunity, I will definitely see it again!! ;p
Well, other movies are worth watching too. :)

Living Fully :p

Was sick yesterday. I woke up with a sore throat and super heavy feeling. Parang I have a fever na nasa loob naman. It started with a running nose - hindi ko nga tinigilan ng neozep - ola. Today, I feel better. :)

A Team Lead is taking over my class for few hours to teach technical stuff of the things we do here. Hehe, so here I am, blogging away!! :p

I can't think of anything to blog so just let me list the things I have to do asap:
  1. I don't have Proactive na - have to buy, shemay.
  2. I have to process my clearance form TT.
  3. I have to start processing my loan payment.
  4. Have to return my thumb drive to cdrking for warranty

Will most likely update my blog again - wehehhehe. :)

Another Tiring Monday

Ahay, first weekday of the month but I am soooooooooo dead tired. Because I report during the night, my body is used to being awake at night - and early morning! and asleep when everyone in our house is awake. - talk about sleeping at home for straight 12 hours - sarap pero masakit na sa likod. hahaha.

So Monday, before work, I decided to run some errands with my sister. We bought didn't have sleep last Sunday so goodluck with our blackest eyebags.

Our game plan? get some sleep for two or so hours, wake up and head on outside to buy the things I need
  1. buy my laptop screen protector
  2. buy my laptop silicon keyboard protector
  3. buy my laser pointer, wireless presenter
  4. watch Sex and the City the movie

About 2PM - I was soooooooo happy. We were able to buy all three that I need. Not that I really spent some money, but I know I needed these - lalo na ung wireless presenter. LOL talaga. Because I am a trainer, I need to move around the room without me having to be beside my laptop so I can move/click my powerpoint presentation - I decided that I needed a technology. ahahaa. I've been surfing tipidpc.com but all they have are expensive ones like 2k+++. Buti na lang naglabas din ng result ung kaka-google ko. I got one from Digiking.ph - I so love it. Not too big, not too small - looks like a pen pa. Pero grabe, pag uwi ko ng bahay, I removed the three small batteries (parang ung battery sa watch) and I can't put it back! I thought nasira ko na ung pointer ko - I was so worried that I have to return it pa for exchange dahil lang ayaw na gumana. huhu. pero my sister was able to fix it - hehe, mali mali kaso ako ng lagay ng battery - shunga shunga. ROFL.

had a nice day today at work using my pointer, hehe.

sabi nga ng students ko - panny!! (they're p and f struggle of funny)

-------------------- EDITED

when i came to the office today, the guard stopped me to claim a package. I knew it - my ITIL CERTIFICATION 'certificate' - sorry for a lack of another term, haha. pero un. hehe. may ilalaminate naman ako  weheeeeee

Still my sober self

Hmmm, I'll try to provide a summary for this week because I can't remember the exact details - couldn't blog so much because of work. But all is well.

  1. So now we all know that I passed ITIL Certification - hehe, I am waiting for my certificate and my pin na lang which will be shipped from the States. :)

  2. My former supervisor from TeleTech also got my white belt cert for my Six Sigma Certification. I failed to get it when I was there because the Project Managers aren't telling me if I passed already or not. But really, I've been waiting for this, I wish I could have gotten it quickly so I can move to yellow and green. My new officemates are green belters from their previous companies - sigh. I wish to be one too someday. :)

  3. I am beginning to train again in this new company I am with. haha, i should stop saying 'new' because in one month's time - I'll be regularized - waiting for my third month now. :) So back to the new hire. I've been really prepping I swear - read read read. This training will just last for two weeks. After this, there will be one more. So I am quite busy this month - yey.

  4. Just early before noon - Kuya's back from Bacolod. He really surprised my mom by texting late night last Friday telling her that he needs 'sundo' on Saturday morning sa airport. Saw three full boxes of Napoleones inside our ref - harhar, which I am delightfully eating right now. yummy yummy.

  5. PLEASE, whoever can read this and anyone who can helpe me - please let me know. I am in pursuit of a T61 silicone keyboard cover or a universal keyboard cover, a 14.1" widescreen LCD screen protector and a Wireless Mouse Presenter with laser. I can buy everything overseas but I would love it kung meron dito sa Pinas. Aside from paying through PAYPAL - dadaan pa to sa customs - matatagalan pa. And I'm not being so vain at all - its just that I want my laptop to last while still looking new. :) Let me know if you can help.

  6. I am up, this early morning of Sunday because I slept the whole day of Saturday. I'd rather stay up and read and prepare for my lesson on Monday than continue sleeping - hehe.
  7. I've been addicted to Gossip Girl. Not only that former Veronica Mars - Kristen Bell is the narrator, Gossip Girl is a refreshing series in tv, pleasing actors/actresses too. :)
  8. I want to watch SEX and the CITY - the movie

Thank you Lord for the week. :) Looking forward for more.

Welcome the month of JUNE! pasukan na naman mga kids. :)
