The Time Traveler's Wife

I initially wanted to watch this story in the big screen; the title itself is very interesting; Until my manager said the book is really good. So instead of heading to the cinema when the movie was released - I pushed myself to get this book last Christmas; this is one of the many books I purchased last December.

I have nothing but good words for this art. It was a page turner for me when I started; although a little dragging in some scenes. Nonetheless, I enjoyed reading it. The story itself was one of a kind - romantic, silly and true. I cried while reading the last 4 chapters; it was when Henry feels he's dying, Clare reading the letter and Henry seeing Clare when she's 82.

Love is love, defied by age & physical presence, time is nothing.

One Week Off

I was out of the blogosphere for one week because our damn monitor died - again?!? Anyway, I don't know when I can blog again.

From Sept 25 up to Oct 2, those are all backtracks. My best efforts to catch up with everything that happened for the past week; not to mention updates because of Typhoon Ondoy.

Stay Safe and Dry everybody.
God Bless Us All.

First Week of First Class

so how's everyone doing so far? me?... I just survived my first week of teaching this new program/ account I'm into. I don't know how I'm doing, I don't know how I'm able to survive everyday.. but I did and will hopefully continue to do so, dahil 8 WEEKS ang training!!

I don't have any updates, just want to tell you I'm alright.

I want to THANK the LORD everyday for always being gracious to me and my family. Thank you LORD for the blessings, because my students are tame, polite and cooperative :p, because my old and old old students/friends remain to be there, thank you for the everyday blessings and safety... couldn't stop myself for appreciating everyday and this might continue on and on, so let me cut myself here...

SO THANK YOU.

You all have a good week ahead!

Let us all count our blessings, not what we don't have.

Love you all. God is Good, All the Time.

.... p.s.
I have a new hair cut, and yep.. its soooooooooo fucking short.. hahaha. but I like it this short, its just that the one who did my hair doesn't know how to cut hair appropriately, or maybe just my hair.. grrrrrrrrrr, will visit another salon this weekend. pagtyatyagaan ko muna to... hahahaha, so lahat ng makakakita saken, you have to bear with me na lang, nayahahaha.

What's Up?

Ok.. so I heard so many news while I was away.
Let me update lang po my blog...

  1. My blog has officially been damaged. Bloggertricks is suffering from bandwidth crisis so the background images of my blog aren't showing anymore. So YES, i might have to find another template soon. Sigh.
  2. Ely's concert has been cut short for a lot of reasons. I was shocked to hear that her mom passed away. Naisip ko nga, pano sya magcoconcert kung nawalan siya ng mahal sa buhay? Hindi nakakapagtaka na hindi niya kaya magconcert that day. His mom is my father's cousin. Ely is technically my second cousin. We couldn't do anything for him at this point but their family is always included in our prayers. We support you. We are wishing and hoping that you get well soon. I wish the entire family can cope up with the loss. God Bless.
  3. Francis M has leukemia. Hmmmm, when I can watch Eat Bulaga before, I would always comment namumutla si Francis sa tv. I didn't pay attention, but I would normally tell my sister that - maputla ang rehistro nia sa TV - un na pala un. Me sakit na pala sya. Our prayers din po. Hope you get well soon.
  4. My brother is now assigned in Bacoor, Cavite. He goes home every weekend.
  5. My back pays aren't processed yet. Hay. I need moolah.
  6. Today is my first day at work again. Half Day - weeeeeeeeeeh. :)

My back tracks are being created pa. They have already been composed as drafts but I can't publish them kasi I need pics sana.

The World Without Filipinos

Please read.

Imagine a world without Filipinos
Abdullah Al-Maghlooth Al-Watan, almaghlooth@alwatan.com.sa

Muhammad Al-Maghrabi became handicapped and shut down his flower and gifts shop business in Jeddah after his Filipino workers insisted on leaving and returning home. He says: “When they left, I felt as if I had lost my arms. I was so sad that I lost my appetite.”

Al-Maghrabi then flew to Manila to look for two other Filipino workers to replace the ones who had left. Previously, he had tried workers of different nationalities but they did not impress him. “There is no comparison between Filipinos and others,” he says. Whenever I see Filipinos working in the Kingdom, I wonder what our life would be without them.

Saudi Arabia has the largest number of Filipino workers — 1,019,577 — outside the Philippines. In 2006 alone, the Kingdom recruited more than 223,000 workers from the Philippines and their numbers are still increasing. Filipinos not only play an important and effective role in the Kingdom, they also perform different jobs in countries across the world, including working as sailors. They are known for their professionalism and the quality of their work.
Nobody here can think of a life without Filipinos, who make up around 20 percent of the world’s seafarers. There are 1.2 million Filipino sailors.

So if Filipinos decided one day to stop working or go on strike for any reason, who would transport oil, food and heavy equipment across the world? We can only imagine the disaster that would happen.

What makes Filipinos unique is their ability to speak very good English and the technical training they receive in the early stages of their education. There are several specialized training institutes in the Philippines, including those specializing in engineering and road maintenance. This training background makes them highly competent in these vital areas.

When speaking about the Philippines, we should not forget Filipino nurses. They are some 23 percent of the world’s total number of nurses. The Philippines is home to over 190 accredited nursing colleges and institutes, from which some 9,000 nurses graduate each year. Many of them work abroad in countries such as the US, the UK, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Singapore.

Cathy Ann, a 35-year-old Filipino nurse who has been working in the Kingdom for the last five years and before that in Singapore, said she does not feel homesick abroad because “I am surrounded by my compatriots everywhere.” Ann thinks that early training allows Filipinos to excel in nursing and other vocations. She started learning this profession at the age of four as her aunt, a nurse, used to take her to hospital and ask her to watch the work. “She used to kiss me whenever I learned a new thing. At the age of 11, I could do a lot. I began doing things like measuring my grandfather’s blood pressure and giving my mother her insulin injections,” she said.

This type of early education system is lacking in the Kingdom. Many of our children reach the university stage without learning anything except boredom.
The Philippines, which you can barely see on the map, is a very effective country thanks to its people. It has the ability to influence the entire world economy.
We should pay respect to Filipino workers, not only by employing them but also by learning from their valuable experiences.

We should learn and educate our children on how to operate and maintain ships and oil tankers, as well as planning and nursing and how to achieve perfection in our work. This is a must so that we do not become like Muhammad Al-Maghrabi who lost his interest and appetite when Filipino workers left his flower shop.

We have to remember that we are very much dependent on the Filipinos around us. We could die a slow death if they chose to leave us.

____________________________________________
I hope everyone treats us and sees us this way. There are a lot of poor fellow Pinoys and Pinays who suffer in the hands of unhumane people here and abroad.

goooooooooood

1 - marvin and i met at magallanes mrt to stroll and eat in sm makati. he had to buy something so I accompanied him. we took a cab going to the office. the name of the cab is "mathew 16:33-34" - the meaning of the verse is typed in small sheet of paper, taped near the window. it says "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Thank you for the wake up call God.

2 - i had a good impromptu training with one of the seniors here in the floor. i know you won't be able to read it but thanks chagz.

3 - OMG - i read an email from Loyalist - the one responsible for auditing the certification in
ITIL and it says I PASSED THE CERTIFICATION. WHOA!! Super Good News - I love it. I even printed the result just to really see and evaluate that I indeed pass. harhar.

Today i felt a little bit better compared to yesterday.

I thank marvin for always being there. without him, working in makati will really be lonely. ILOVE YOU HON.

Down and Troubled

it has been nearly 2 months since i migrated from Pasay to Makati for work, in pursuit of higher pay, and a different work environment.

I joined an IT company. Armed with nothing but my experience in call center, a trainer certification, my award kuno, my three year experience being a trainer, my DSL background and some basic knowledge in programming - i went for it. I thought it will make or break my career. Sigh. I know I have learned so many things already but I feel like I still lack some more knowledge. I will be running a New Hire Class next week and I am still weak. I still don't know how to 'debug' and run things in AI. Good Lord help me. My managers are expecting more than what I can provide yet.

Come to think of it, I know the solution to my problems, I know what to do - but I'm not doing it. Why Mae? I don't know. I need more motivation, I need more passion to learn. I need more reasons to become thirsty for knowledge again.

I am moved by the negative forces I am thinking. STOP it mae. be humble. you need help.

Dear God,
please grant me the humility to do the things I have to do. make me humble in front of other people. grant me the wisdom and knowledge that will help me in fulfilling what is expected and asked of me. help me follow what you have laid in front of me.
Thank you.

** sorry about my post ** maybe only me or only few people can understand, this is me - feeling down and troubled.

For my TITA

my mom's eldest sister is still in ICU. She was admitted last Thursday - all of her internal organs failed - dehydration of some sort - I don't know. Now Metro Hospital is trying their best to restore all her vital organs. Currently, she can move, she can smile but she couldn't open her eyes.

Pray for her

and for the rest of my family.

I See Blur

Bad Day lyrics

Where is the moment when needed the most?
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
you tell me your blue sky's fade to grey
you tell me your passion's gone away
And I don't need no carryin' on

You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You're faking a smile with the coffee to go
You tell me your life's been way off line
You're falling to pieces everytime
And I don't need no carryin' on

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Well you need a blue sky holiday
The point is they laugh at what you say
And I don't need no carryin' on

You had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day

(Oh.. Holiday..)

Sometimes the system goes on the blink
And the whole thing it turns out wrong
You might not make it back and you know
That you could be well oh that strong
And I'm not wrong

So where is the passion when you need it the most
Oh you and I
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
You see what you like
And how does it feel for one more time
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Had a bad day
Had a bad day

It''s Monday morning. My body clock has stayed the same, i'm up when I feel like its time for work, even if it's weekend. Anyway, I'll probably be hitting the sheets in few hours from now. And I wish to sleep for 10 to 12 hours. Sarap!

Anyway, I decided to blog because I am supposed to be up and doing something work related - that is one of the main reasons why i bring my laptop home - to be able to do work related stuff.

  • I am currently working on Confirming Resolution presenatation and Gaining Confidence but I couldn't find any material. I'm having a hard time writing from scratch. I found few articles from the internet but of course, admit it - it's not tailor fit for what i exactly needed. so i am still browsing, still trying to look for articles that will complete my presentation.
  • I am still financially unstable - haaaaaaaaay. i just checked my accounts online - whew, buti na lang pasok pa din sa budget.
  • I look at myself, my financial status, my stand in the office - my position. what am i now? I am still far from the things i envisioned when i was still studying - college that is. i am currently being paid in the office merely for learning - i don't know if this has been the longest time - but i have not taught a single class for the past months - its driving me crazy not being able to do the only thing i know
  • and oh - before i forget, our first month will come this 31st - 1 month na ko - kami ng mga kasama ko who boarded the company last March 31
  • I want to do so many things in my life but I don't know where to start. I wanted to buy us a house but how? I am the only one who's capable of paying bills yet. I don't doubt my parents can provide us - but i know, its not that much. If we get a house, most likely I'll pay for it - but it has to be in manila - near here or near divi where my parents work. so calculating the bills every month - house, electricity, phone, water, grocery = roughly 12 to 18K per month. with my salary - i couldn't yet, i have cards to pay too, then my baon until the next payday - and hell, talk about savings. Why am i being open about this? ehehe - wala namang nagbabasa nito eh - keri lang. i just wanted to vent out. I wish I'm earning like 60K nga noh. malabo pa, malabo pa ang hinaharap ko.
  • Sana manalo sila mama and papa sa lotto. :p

Ika nga sa mga nakasabit sa jeep - "In God we Trust" I do. Hope's all up.

After three weeks of having no mani/pedi, finally - our service was here yesterday. Ehehe, meet my classic white brazil havs. :)

I was watching WWE backlash 2008 few hours ago. Hindi nio na itatanong, avid fan din ako ng wrestling - as in. Anyway, i didn't know that Orton has the belt na - which he got from Cena. Yung napanood ko was a 4 man no DQ/ no count out match. The Game vs. JBL vs. Cena vs. the current champ - Randy Orton. Cena eliminated JBL, right there and then after the count, Orton eliminated Cena - OMG... the ending was - Triple H vs. Randy Orton. You should all see how D Game countered all the attempts of Orton, hahaha. And the winner is.....

OMG, and i just realized now.. JACK TV tagged the TV show kanina as LIVe - i thought it wasn't - it was indeed LIVE - OMG.

More than Answered (Extreme Weather Worldwide!)

kung ano man nangyayari saten ngayon is more than an answered prayer.

It started pouring drizzles last Sunday, it'll rain but it'll stop so medyo may mainit pareng factor tuwing afternoon. Local News even reported that this kind of rain is not enough to raise the waters sa dam for 5million people's consumption.

Church has been appealing to everyone to pray for rain. Kasi naman, 2 months hindi umulan sa Pilipinas which were considered to be 'tag-ulan' months. Super answered prayer ng simbahan, umulan nga.

Come Monday, eto na si bagyo na hindi ko alam kung ano pangalan. Ayos lang, medyo ok pa naman ung ulan - normal lang, magaan na ambon kahit walang tigil. According to PAGASA, it would not hit the Philippines, habagat lang kung aakyat sya diretso ng Japan. PagAsa said sana storm takes Taiwan path na lang para tamaan tayo ng bagyo.

Tuesday until now Wednesday, di pa tumitigil ang malakas na ulan na may hangin. Kaninang umuwi ako ng 7AM in the morning, nilusong ko ung flats ko sa tubig with more than 8inches na baha, saya di ba? Currently, as I write this naglilimas si Kae sa kusina namen sa likod ng tumataas ng tubig.

Sana lang wag umabot sa extent na people's lives would be affected badly. Baka paghinto naman ng ulan ipagdasal naten.

Here's what I have from Yahoo!

    Early 2007 saw record-breaking extreme weather: U.N.

GENEVA (Reuters) - The world experienced a series of record-breaking weather events in early 2007, from flooding in Asia to heatwaves in Europe and snowfall in South Africa, the United Nations weather agency said on Tuesday.

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said global land surface temperatures in January and April were likely the warmest since records began in 1880, at more than 1 degree Celsius higher than average for those months.

There have also been severe monsoon floods across South Asia, abnormally heavy rains in northern Europe, China, Sudan, Mozambique and Uruguay, extreme heatwaves in southeastern Europe and Russia, and unusual snowfall in South Africa and South America this year, the WMO said.

"The start of the year 2007 was a very active period in terms of extreme weather events," Omar Baddour of the agency's World Climate Program told journalists in Geneva.

While most scientists believe extreme weather events will be more frequent as heat-trapping carbon dioxide emissions cause global temperatures to rise, Baddour said it was impossible to say with certainty what the second half of 2007 will bring.

"It is very difficult to make projections for the rest of the year," he said.

    HEALTH CRISIS

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a U.N. umbrella group of hundreds of experts, has noted an increasing trend in extreme weather events over the past 50 years and said irregular patterns are likely to intensify.

South Asia's worst monsoon flooding in recent memory has affected 30 million people in India, Bangladesh and Nepal, destroying croplands, livestock and property and raising fears of a health crisis in the densely-populated region.

Heavy rains also doused southern China in June, with nearly 14 million people affected by floods and landslides that killed 120 people, the WMO said.

England and Wales this year had their wettest May and June since records began in 1766, resulting in extensive flooding and more than $6 billion in damage, as well as at least nine deaths. Germany swung from its driest April since country-wide observations started in 1901 to its wettest May on record.

Mozambique suffered its worst floods in six years in February, followed by a tropical cyclone the same month, and flooding of the Nile River in June caused damage in Sudan.

Uruguay had its worst flooding since 1959 in May.

Huge swell waves swamped some 68 islands in the Maldives in May, resulting in severe damage, and the Arabian Sea had its first documented cyclone in June, touching Oman and Iran.

Temperature records were broken in southeastern Europe in June and July, and in western and central Russia in May. In many European countries, April was the warmest ever recorded.

Argentina and Chile saw unusually cold winter temperatures in July while South Africa had its first significant snowfall since 1981 in June.

The WMO and its 188 member states are working to set up an early warning system for extreme weather events. The agency is also seeking to improve monitoring of the impacts of climate change, particularly in poorer countries which are expected to bear the brunt of floods, droughts and storms.

Grabe na ito, we need to continuously pray for everyone's safety.

    Just Guide Me Please..

ST. THOMAS AQUINAS: PRAYER FOR GUIDANCE

    O creator past all telling,
you have appointed from the treasures of your wisdom
    the hierarchies of angels,
    disposing them in wondrous order
    above the bright heavens,
and have so beautifully set out all parts of the universe.

You we call the true fount of wisdom
and the noble origin of all things.
    Be pleased to shed
on the darkness of mind in which I was born,
The twofold beam of your light
and warmth to dispel my ignorance and sin.

You make eloquent the tongues of children.
    Then instruct my speech
and touch my lips with graciousness.
Make me keen to understand, quick to learn,
    able to remember;
make me delicate to interpret and ready to speak.

Guide my going in and going forward,
    lead home my going forth.
You are true God and true man,
and live for ever and ever.

    --St Thomas Aquinas, 1225-74

    Prayer...

Thank you Lord for the many ways you use other people to counsel me and help me grow.. And yet that Christ himself is the answer to myhang-ups, the one source who can meet my deepest needs. How I rejoice that He is wonderful in counsel and mighty in power, and that he heals from the inside out.

    Philippians 1:3

Thank you Lord for the trials that you allow to happen in my life which serves as a platform on which you reveal Yourself, show your love and power, both to me and to Others looking on. Thank you that I can move into the future nondefensively, with hands outstretched to whatever lies ahead, for you to hold the future and You will always be with me, even to my old age... And through all eternity

    Isiah 46:4
